
Broomgrass is located in the Back Creek Elementary School District which serves 173
students and offers a pupil teacher ratio of 15:1. A $800,000 renovation and addition
was completed in the summer of 2004. Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 will attend the new
$6,625,000 Back Creek/Gerrardstown Intermediate School (2005). This school will house
450 students and provide state-of-the art classrooms, computer lab, music, art, media
center, dining area and multi-purpose room. Musselman Middle School and High School are
located in Bunker Hill about 15 minutes from Broomgrass. Musselman Middle (1999) serves
915 students in grades 6 through 8 and offers a pupil-teacher ratio of 15:1.
Musselman Middle School was named a West Virginia Blue Ribbon School for the 2001-2002
school year and earned the WV School of Excellence title in 2000-2001. Mussleman High
School (1998) serves 1,106 students and offers a pupil teacher ratio of 18:1.
It has the highest mean SAT scores of all three County high schools.
