Broomgrass is located in the Back Creek Elementary School District which serves 141 students and offers an average class size of 19 students. A $800,000 renovation and addition was completed in the summer of 2004. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will attend the new $6,625,000 Mountain Ridge Intermediate School (2005). This school houses 383 students and provide state-of-the art classrooms, computer lab, music, art, media center, dining area and multi-purpose room. Musselman Middle School and High School are located in Bunker Hill about 15 minutes from Broomgrass. Musselman Middle (1999) serves 1254 students in grades 6 through 8. Musselman Middle School was named a West Virginia Blue Ribbon School for the 2001-2002 school year and earned the WV School of Excellence title in 2000-2001. Mussleman High School (1998) serves 1,498 students and offers a pupil teacher ratio of 20:1.
